Lake District Elopement | Kate & Richard

We have a real treat to share with you today - our first wedding of 2021! Now that they have shared the news with their loved ones we can show you a few of our favourite moments from Kate & Richard's elopement in the Lake District. We have been bursting with excitement ever since we shot these!

Kate, Richard and their gorgeous son Eddie stayed in an off-grid cottage, high in the fell above Coniston Water. We had a very steep hike up to find them, but it was absolutely worth it - what a place! After zig-zagging up through the forest the trees started to drop away, giving way to an open, rocky and wild landscape. Around one last corner and the stone cottage was revealed, nestled in between hills and dry stone walls. With only basic amenities and surrounded by sheep it was so idyllic and quiet - we felt like we were the only people around for miles, and all we could hear was birds and tiny lambs bleating!

They were joined by Kristina as a bridesmaid and hair & makeup artist as well as Lauradana from Wedding Creations UKwho styled the wedding beautifully! After getting ready (there was no electricity, so Kate had to have her hair pinned up in curls the day before!) and a first look by the cottage, we headed out towards a viewpoint overlooking Coniston Water. Kate & Richard said their vows and exchanged their wedding rings in front of a beautiful floral installation. It was a truly unforgettable experience, not only because the setting was absolutely breathtaking, but also because these guys are such a sweet family and it was a privilege to be part of something so intimate and special.

The area is famous for its inclement weather - in preparation Lauradana anchored the floral tipi backdrop deep into the ground, but on the day we were treated to a warm, calm evening which was very unusual for the time of year! We even had a brief burst of golden light around sunset - the perfect end to their day, before we had to hike back down to our car in the dark!

Kate & Richard have certainly set the bar high for 2021! After a long, quiet winter we cannot describe how wonderful it was to be back doing what we love. Here's to many more weddings this year!
