St John’s College in Cambridge is a venue that will truly stop you in your tracks when you first see it. We are so grateful to have had an insight into such a special place so full of history! Spending two days capturing beautiful moments and portraits in the grounds of St John's College was certainly one of the highlights of our year. The cloisters of New Court and the famous Bridge of Sighs really stole our hearts.

Ruoxing & Andreas had the most wonderful two day wedding celebration, which included Chinese elements such as tea ceremony in traditional dress, an intimate civil ceremony, a large outdoor ceremony in front of New Court, and a reception in the Grand Hall of St John’s.

Wedding Ceremony in front of New Court

Their main wedding ceremony was held out in the College Backs with the spectacular backdrop of New Court. Guests were seated on picnic blankets, and friends & family contributed to the ceremony, giving the whole occasion a relaxed, personal feel. It was a breathtaking moment as Ruoxing made her entrance!

The sixteenth century Hall of St John’s College is the epitome of elegance and grandeur - perfect for a luxurious wedding breakfast. With evening light streaming through the ornate stained-glass windows, you really feel the history of the College whilst celebrating with your friends and families.

For day one of their two-day wedding, Ruoxing & Andreas had an intimate legal ceremony in the Cambridge Union Library, a Chinese tea ceremony, and portraits in traditional dress around the grounds of St John’s College.

All of St John’s College is beautiful, but New Court (which opens up to the Cambridge College Backs) was our personal highlight. The architechture, ornate details, the views, and quite frankly the Harry Potter vibes - it’s unlike anywhere else, and an absolute dream for any wedding photographer!

The sheltered cloisters of New Court provide a great space for wedding photographs, even if it’s rainy or windy (as was the case for us). It’s full of natural light, but protected from the elements. It’s always worth knowing a rainy day photo spot!

The Bridge of Sighs

The Bridge of Sighs is part of St John’s College, and it connects New Court to Third Court. It’s an iconic feature, and it goes without saying it’s a beautiful photo backdrop for your wedding photos!
